Techno Advancements with Dan Goman

Dan Goman is the CEO of OWNZONES Entertainment Technologies, a software company targeted towards providing the post-production and other industries with groundbreaking modernizations, from solutions to digital supply chain issues to different, personalizable video apps.

Goman was born in Romania in the 1970’s. Shortly after, he and his family escaped the oppression of the communist regime in Romania and immigrated to America when he was very young. Dan Goman taught himself how to program using an old IBM computer, after learning English from TV shows. He began a career in software engineering right after graduating from the University of Maryland.

After accumulating expertise in the tech industry through working on the advancement of the technology for larger companies like Microsoft, Lucent Technology, and AT&T, he was able to start OWNZONES in 2010. That is when he realized the trend had shifted from the use of paper for broadcasting media to digital content.

As companies like Netflix launched SVOD (subscription video on demand) channels and streaming began to become more common in the later 2000s, Goman began to see that, as long as internet speeds were able to keep up with demand, this could be a huge step for technology. He decided to become the founder of OWNZONES as a streaming service with multiple platforms that compiles SVOD channels and provides them each to consumers on a subscription basis. By 2015, they had over 400 channels on the platform.

When asked about what he is most excited about for tech’s future, Goman said he was most excited about the cloud. He said the cloud has created freedom and ease of digital storage for personal and business purposes alike. It allows for complete customization in terms of storage needs, and can better handle disaster recovery than other previous storage solutions.
