Edgard Corona is the leader of Endeavor, the fourth biggest fitness agglomeration in the world. The company provides fitness services in numerous Latin American countries like Colombia, Ecuador, the Dominican Republic, Chile, Peru and Mexico. It has a customer base of 1.6 million and reshaped the way that people workout. This disruption has forced the fitness industry in Latin America to innovate and scale upwards to provide adequate services which has seen an economic resurgence.
As CEO of Smartfit, Edgard Corona has expanded and upgraded the company’s model, technology and infrastructure which has seen it become a leading name in fitness with 480 gyms across the network earning an approximated R$1 billion in 2017 alone.
His is success began after he founded Bio Ritmo in 1996 in Sao Paulo, after switching his career as a chemical engineer. He was inspired to go into the venture as partner. A skiing accident made him rethink his initial approach once he had to spend all day in physiotherapy at the gym.
Over the next 12 years, Edgard Corona learned the ins and outs of running a successful gym, after having little to no experience in the industry.
He believes that business have a learning curve, much like he had with Bio Ritmo in its initial stages of starting off successfully, then failing and then hitting normal operations which is the way his businesses have worked.
Once his company hired an architect to build an interesting and sophisticated building. Edgard Corona introduced gym memberships at an affordable price for a sophisticated experience inspired by the Planet Fitness model in the USA. Making gyms accessible at an affordable price has opened the experience to more people increasing the company’s revenue and demographic. Bio Ritmo grew becoming a well-respected and well known fitness gym across Latin America. To learn more visit: here.
