Snyder sought Mortimer Zuckerman, a real estate entrepreneur. The latter wrote World Report and US news targeting college students to help him publish Campus USA, a college student magazine he was working on. Zuckerman got captivated by the determination and persistence Dan Snyder had and invested almost 3 million dollars in Campus USA.
After three years of operation, Snyder thought it wise to close down Campus USA since it did not generate enough money. He up with another idea of wallboards which Drasner, Zuckerman, and other investors believed in its profitability.
At the time, advertisers were looking for channels to directly reach out to their target market wallboards to fill this gap. In 1988, he started Snyder Communications Inc. (SNC) together with his sister Michelle. The company’s focus was on database marketing, direct marketing, call centers, field sales, sponsored information displays, and proprietary product sampling.
In 1996 SNC listed its initial public offering in the New York Stock Exchange, making Snyder the youngest CEO in the stock market. The company expanded through acquisitions, and he sold it to Havas, French advertising and Marketing Services Group.
