Asot Michael is an Antigua and Barbuda politician and businessman, who currently serves as a member of the Antigua and Barbuda labor party. The social-political leader has served in various political capacities to further economic growth in his country. Asot Michael was born in the French West Indies in 1969. Both his father and grandfather were prominent businessmen in their country, both of which were members of the Antigua and Barbuda Labour Party. His father Patrick was an early supporter of the party and a pillar of the community who was known for his undivided commitment to the social and economic development of his country, to which Michaels also continues to devote his professional career. Mr. Michael was named after his grandfather, who played an important role in his political career. His grandfather, Asot tragically passed away a day after anti-government entities burned down his home in the riots of 1968, which inspired him to pursue a career in politics.
Mr. Michael’s uncles Mitchell and Maurice were also heavily involved in politics, which helped aid the development of Antigua and Barbuda. Asot attended Saint Joseph’s Academy, where he earned his high school diploma in 1986. He went on to attend Barry University, where he graduated with a BS in business administration. While attending Barry University, Mr. Michael also double-majored in Economics and Finance, which is where he also made the Dean and President’s List. After attending Barry University, he went on to attend the University of Miami, which is where he earned his MBA. In 1995, he decided to enter the realm of politics and was appointed Special Administrative Assistant to Prime Minister Lester Bryant Bird and later served as chief of staff. After four years serving as chief of staff, he was appointed as government senator and later awarded the position of Minister of Government in 2001. In addition to his political accomplishments, Mr. Michael also established Asot Arcade and The Caribbean Energy Engineering Company, which he serves as President and CEO. He also served as president and CEO of the real estate and tourism development company Sarkis Management Company Ltd, which is considered one of the most successful real estate development companies in the country.
