Profile and Advice of Greg Blatt of AIC

Greg Blatt is a bit of a traveler, who has toured the world. He has spent his time doing everything from living in a tent in the mountains to going to law school. He learned the value of hard work at a mergers and acquisitions law firm in New York, before he entered entertainment law working with his client, Martha Stewart. He then spent the decade after this working at AIC, his current place of employment. There he found a mentor in the CEO, Barry Diller, who taught him to participate in the company’s strategy. He became CEO of Match.com because it was going through some problems, and he was needed to remedy them. He turned the company around in months, and he became known for his decision making in that sector.

The advice Greg Blatt needs to give on leadership is that overscheduling a day can lead to working reactively, and he feels it is important to both take care of problems that arise and contribute to a company’s future through initiative. He also feels that it is important to be flexible when delegating tasks, because a CEO is supposed to assemble a team and point them in the right direction, not do every assignment that a company comes across. He also sees the importance of asking why because these conversations cause innovation.

Greg Blatt has spent a long and fascinating career employed in the technology industry and is now Chairman of the Match Group at IAC. He has spent his career working as a corporate lawyer, through his time as a general counsel for Martha Stewart, until he found great success spending over a decade at IAC, a large holding company. Greg has been Chairman and CEO of IAC and several of its subsidiaries. He spent college earning a B.A. in English from Colgate University, and holds a J.D. from Columbia Law School.
