The Career Of Ragnar Horn

In an interview conducted by CEOWorld.biz, entitled “CEO Spotlight: Interview With Ragnar Horn of Taconic AS“, Ragnar Horn was asked questions about his career, leadership advice, and a business solution to failure.

Since a young age Ragnar Horn has had a competitive spirit and feels it is this facet of his personality which has helped him greatly in business. In college, Horn was a division one cross-country skier and still competes a few times a year in various events.

Horn believes that competition is healthy and important in life and especially in business. This is not to say he thinks he alone must succeed but he feels part of the competition is knowing how to work with others to reach greater levels of success.

Ragnar Horn believes that one of the worst mistakes made in business is cognitive bias. This means that assumptions are made on what has happened previously rather than what is happening or is more likely to happen. Horn points to the events of an ill-fated expedition to Mount Everest.

The leaders of this party made assumptions on the weather conditions they would face based on what had happened in previous years. They also assumed that as they had managed the journey before that they would have no problems doing so again. Go Here for additional information.

Ragnar Horn was born in Norway spending his formative years of education in that country. Horn’s higher education took place in the United States where he earned a bachelor’s degree from Williams College before attending Harvard Business school.

Using his newfound business education, Ragnar Horn returned to Norway to take over the family’s investment firm, Taconic AS. Horn is now CEO of the company, overseeing a huge portfolio of investments including real estate, shipping and other offshore projects.
