Despite selling Cinespace Chicago, Alex Pissios is continuously evolving. One Golden Summer and Wizdom are his latest works. The outbreak halted filming in 2020, but that has changed. He is now filming a documentary on all Black-Jackie Robinson West Little League team that won the Little League World Series US bracket in 2014. They’d lose the World Championship to Seoul’s team but they are still popular.
Young heroes among their peers in Chicago and across the country, they even met President Barack Obama in Washington. They were on several news shows, but their celebration would be brief. Soon after, a rival coach accused the team of recruiting foreign players. Despite denials from coaches and local authorities, the team lost its title to Little League. The young athletes are now branded as cheaters and face media outrage. Now aged 20 and 21, the documentary follows them. This year’s theme highlights betrayal, resilience, and survival. It is due in 2023 with Alex Pissios and Danny Zamost being the producers.
Production on Wizdom began in Chicago in February 2022. Wizdom concerns two professional robbers, Eos and Vayle. Their purpose is to steal biotech ingredients to show users the future through improved vision and extrasensory talents. Wizdom is filmed in Chicago’s CineCity which is part of CineSpace. Alex Pissios and Cinespace agreed on this and future ventures. Pissios, a Chicago native, has a sweet spot for Greece. In 1968, he met his future business partner, Nick Mirkopoulos. He is incredibly grateful and regards Nick as his uncle. After his demise, Alex Pissios took charge until he sold to investors in late 2021.
After numerous turndowns by CineCity due to stage shortage which led to massive job loss. Pissios oversaw an additional 19 soundstages in CineSpace which saw the creation of 2000 job opportunities. This expansion faced early objections and public concern but the opportunities were far more outreaching. The company offered more internship opportunities to local children and later great job opportunities. Alex Pissios remains committed to collaboration with the owners of CineSpace.
