On January 4th, 2022, Activision Publishing filed a lawsuit against EngineOwning. It is a place that offers cheat software for many multiplayer games, which includes Call of Duty and other Activision games. EngingOwning believes everyone should have the ability to win and enjoy matches.
On the contrary, Activision has decided to file because it is unlawful for EngineOwning to be profiting from players using this software maliciously to gain an unfair advantage, such as automatically aiming for weapons and revealing opponents’ locations. Also, having this available software damages the company’s business, the game, and the community surrounding it.
On top of that, Activision has been focused on stopping cheaters through their anti-cheating system, which has reportedly been able to help them ban tens of thousands of cheaters in the game.
The Future Plans
With the Call of Duty franchise, the expectations are that the game will become more and more realistic and richer in character depth and storyline.
So, this means that Activision will continue to prioritize keeping Call of Duty as fair as possible by continuing to ban cheaters and the like.
