M Patrick Carroll – Getting Behind SPAL Football

M Patrick Carroll, founder of the real estate investment company CARROLL, is a successful American businessman. His company manages assets worth over $5 billion and owns over 30,000 properties along the eastern seaboard. The company has performed over $12 billion in transactions since 2011.

Societá Polisportiva Ars et Labor (SPAL) began playing professional football under the IFF (Italian Football Federation) in 1919, twelve years after its founding in 1907. The team currently plays in the second tier of the IFF system. M Patrick Carroll has joined a group of investors under the guidance of Joe Tacopina in the acquisition of SPAL.

The real estate firm CARROLL has picked up nearly $8 billion worth of real estate since it was founded in 2004 and has successfully sold just over $4 billion. The company developed and managed construction projects valued at over $200 million for its various partners and investors. This is M Patrick Carroll’s first major investment in football on an international level.

Tacopina was trying to acquire Catania, a football club that was founded in 1929 prior to the recent acquisition. Investors had trouble coming to a timely agreement with the club’s owners, and that deal evaporated in June of 2021. Catania was a third-tier team, making the Serie B team, SPAL, a more desirable acquisition for M Patrick Carroll and the rest of the team of investors.

SPAL has a celebrated history. As it has navigated its way through the various tiers of the Italian Football Federation, the team has won a number of championships and accolades. Based on the team’s various successes, M Patrick Carroll and Tacopina plan to start building SPAL as soon as the purchase is completed by investing $10 million at the start of the project. They plan to take the team back to a top tier promotion
