Gregory James Aziz is the Chairman, President & CEO of National Steel Company, one of the world’s leading railway freight car manufacturers and a subsidiary of National Industries, Inc.

 

When Greg James Aziz purchased the 100-year old company in 1994, it was floundering with 600 employees manufacturing about 3,500 railroad cars per year. Greg Aziz gave the company new life and purpose. Just 5 years after he acquired it, National Steel Company grew to 3,000 employees, manufacturing over 12,000 cars per year in addition to replacement parts.

 

Innovation and Excellence:

When Greg purchased the company, he had a vision and strategy for where he wanted to company to go. He wanted to build on the company’s history as a renowned freight and tank car manufacturer by building on its’ legacy. Greg led the company to expand production of their freight cars including boxcars, coil, gondola, hopper and tank cars.

 

In addition, they began increasing production of common railcar replacement components including fulcrum brackets, brake piping, body bolsters and more.

To bolster customer confidence, the company was focused on achieving and exceeding industry requirements. Today, the entire line meets or exceeds all AAR requirements and was granted an ISO 9001:2008 certification for their best-in-industry standards.
